Inconel 693 vs Inconel 690: when metal dusting decides the grade
A side-by-side comparison of two high-chromium Ni-Cr-Fe alloys, and the reformer / syngas service conditions where one is meaningfully better than the other.
Read articleShanghai Hangbo Alloy Group supplies and exports nickel-based alloys, premium stainless steels, duplex and precipitation-hardening grades — from corrosion-resistant Inconel, Monel and Hastelloy to engineering grades such as XM-25 (UNS S45000). Plate, bar, tube, wire, forgings, and cut-to-drawing components.
Every grade is supplied against the international standard you specify, with the documentation package your QA team requires.
Corrosion- and heat-resistant nickel alloys for chemical, petrochemical, marine and nuclear service.
High-molybdenum austenitic and super-austenitic grades for chloride and acid environments.
High-strength, stress-corrosion-cracking-resistant grades for offshore, desalination and pulp & paper.
Martensitic PH grades combining high strength with useful corrosion resistance — valve, shaft and aerospace duty.
Mill-direct semi-finished material in the sizes your production needs, with cut-to-length and cut-to-drawing service.
In-house and partner processing so you receive parts, not just material — plus moulds and welding equipment supply.
We keep technical depth on the difficult grades — the ones where the wrong chemistry costs a shutdown.
A high-chromium nickel alloy developed for metal-dusting resistance. It performs in both oxidising and reducing high-temperature atmospheres where conventional alloys fail — the grade of choice for reformer and syngas equipment.
| Nickel (Ni), balance | ~58 % |
|---|---|
| Chromium (Cr) | 27.0 – 31.0 % |
| Iron (Fe) | 2.5 – 6.0 % |
| Aluminium (Al) | 2.5 – 4.0 % |
| Typical supply | Plate, bar, seamless tube |
| Key standards | ASTM B166 / B167 / B168 |
| Main applications | Reformers, syngas, fired heaters, burner parts |
A martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel that delivers roughly twice the yield strength of 316 while retaining useful corrosion resistance and good fabrication behaviour. Fully annealed it machines and welds easily; a single low-temperature ageing treatment takes it to high strength.
| Chromium (Cr) | 14.0 – 16.0 % |
|---|---|
| Nickel (Ni) | 5.0 – 7.0 % |
| Copper (Cu) | 1.25 – 1.75 % |
| Molybdenum (Mo) | 0.50 – 1.00 % |
| Yield strength (H900) | ≈ 1,170 MPa |
| Key standards | ASTM A564 · AMS 5773 |
| Main applications | Shafts, valves, gears, aerospace hardware |
We supply nickel-based alloys, high-alloy stainless steels, duplex and precipitation-hardening grades, plus mould and tooling steels, with in-house cutting, machining and welding-equipment capability. Every shipment carries full mill traceability.
Specialty alloys are bought on trust in the paperwork. Our job is to make sure the heat number, the certificate and the physical material all tell the same story — and that your engineers get a straight answer on the technical points first.
Where our materials end up:
Wellhead, downhole, sour service
Reactors, heat exchangers, columns
FGD, superheater, nuclear auxiliaries
Seawater systems, desalination
Fasteners, actuators, airframe hardware
Moulds, dies, tooling steels
Send grade, form, size, quantity and standard. We confirm feasibility and flag any points that need clarification.
Once the specification is locked we quote price, lead time, packing and Incoterms — no moving target.
Mill order or stock release, PMI verification, dimensional check, and third-party inspection if you require it.
MTC, packing list, invoice, certificate of origin, and a shipment plan you can track.
It depends on the grade and the product form. Mill-finished specialty grades (for example N06693) are produced to order with a per-ton minimum; commonly stocked nickel alloys and stainless grades can start from around 100 kg. We always state the MOQ upfront, before we quote.
N06693 (Inconel 693) is not a stock item — it is mill-order only, with a per-ton minimum and a typical lead time of 6–10 weeks. XM-25 / S45000 is available in bar and plate on shorter notice. We will never promise stock we do not hold.
ASTM, ASME, AMS, EN, DIN, JIS and GB are all routine. Tell us the standard and the revision year with your enquiry — the mill test certificate will be issued against the standard you specify.
An EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate with the full chemical analysis and mechanical properties of the actual heat, commercial invoice and packing list. 3.2 certificates via a nominated third party (SGS, BV, TÜV) are available on request.
We operate under ISO 9001:2015 and GJB 9001C-2017 quality systems. Material is verified by ultrasonic testing, PMI (positive material identification) and mechanical testing before release, and every piece is traceable to its heat number.
Stock items: 3–7 working days after payment. Cut-to-size orders: 7–15 days including processing. Mill-order grades: 4–10 weeks depending on the grade and the mill's production schedule. We confirm the exact date in writing with the quotation.
Yes. Sawing, waterjet, plasma and laser cutting, plus CNC machining for finished parts — flanges, rings, bushings and fasteners are routinely produced to customer drawings in our workshop.
Standard terms are 30 % T/T deposit with the balance against the copy of the bill of lading. Irrevocable L/C at sight is acceptable for larger orders. New customers start with standard terms; there is no hidden surcharge for first orders.
Ex-Works, FOB Shanghai, CIF and DAP are all routine. Sea freight from the port of Shanghai, air freight for urgent small quantities, and international courier for samples. Export documents (invoice, packing list, B/L, certificate of origin, HS classification) are always complete.
Seaworthy export packing: IPPC-stamped fumigation-free plywood cases, VCI anti-rust paper, foam protection for machined surfaces, and steel strapping. Case marking follows your requirements, including heat-number stencilling on each piece.
Yes — we welcome third-party inspection by SGS, BV, TÜV or your nominated agency, and we welcome customers to visit our Qingpu warehouse to inspect material in person before it is packed.
Small material samples (coupons for analysis or testing) are free of charge — you cover the courier cost. Machined sample parts are quoted case by case depending on the processing involved.
Our main export markets are Southeast Asia, Singapore, the Middle East and Europe. Materials ship with complete export documentation and HS classification, and we are familiar with the documentation requirements of major project owners and EPC contractors.
